Chief Executive Officer

John is CEO of Consilium Wealth Management and has been in the financial planning services industry since 1998. John is also CEO of Simplex Wealth Management, an affiliate company of Consilium. At Consilium, he specializes in working with clients who seek guidance with various financial planning topics, including retirement, tax, insurance, and estate planning. John strongly believes that educating his clients while at the same time managing their expectations is paramount in increasing the overall likelihood of the success in achieving financial goals and objectives.

John launched Consilium Wealth Management in 2010. Before John followed his dream to start his own company, John was employed at a wealth management firm in Walnut Creek for over six years as a Managing Director of Wealth Management Services and Director of Business Development. He engaged in strategic comprehensive financial planning for his clients while at the same time, providing periodic market and portfolio updates for them. John’s holistic approach to financial planning allowed him to provide customized solutions while taking into account the ongoing changes in clients’ situations. As tax and estate laws changed, he educated his clients and provided them with guidance if any revisions needed to be made to their overall plan. John has led several business development seminars and played an integral role in the consistent growth of the firm’s assets under management during his tenure there.

John also worked as a Financial Advisor at Merrill Lynch where he provided fee-based asset management services for his clients. At Merrill, he provided comprehensive financial planning for his clients and dealt with various topics, including retirement planning, risk management, and estate planning.

John began his career in the financial services industry as a Financial Planner for Prudential Financial. While there, he focused on assisting his clients with managing their investment portfolios and promoting a fee-based practice.

John has lived in the Bay Area since 1992. He earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics from the University of California at Berkeley, received his CFP® certification from the College of Financial Planning in 2003, and is a member of the Financial Planning Association™ (FPA). In his free time, John enjoys spending time with his family, playing sports, and hiking.

Tracy Jao CFP®, CPWA®, EA

Vice President

Tracy Jao is Vice President of Consilium Wealth Management and supervises the Financial Planning department. Tracy provides comprehensive financial planning for her clients which includes areas such as investment management, tax, estate planning and insurance. She also aids her clients in the development and implementation of their financial goals which are customized to each unique financial situation. As an Enrolled Agent, Tracy possesses an in-depth knowledge of tax consequences and an expertise in tax planning. Tracy holds the Certified Private Wealth Advisor (CPWA®) designation which allows her to provide specialization in complex issues that arise with ultra-high net worth individuals. Tracy analyzes these unique challenges and develops specific strategies for issues such as maximizing growth, transfer of wealth and how to monetize and protect their assets.

Prior to joining Consilium, Tracy served as a wealth advisor at several prominent independent advisory firms throughout the Bay Area, providing strategic financial planning and asset management. Tracy began her career as a financial advisor at Merrill Lynch where she provided fee-based asset management and financial planning for her clients.

Tracy is active in the financial community and is currently a member of the Investment Management Consultants Association® (IMCA) and the National Association of Tax Professionals. She earned a degree in Law from the National Taiwan University and holds the Certified Financial Planner (CFP®), Certified Private Wealth Advisor (CPWA®) and Enrolled Agent (EA) designations.

Tracy currently resides in the East Bay and enjoys yoga, traveling and baking in her free time.
